We like the software to a degree Mostly because it is has been customized over years and years to suit out needs but is now out dated and has horrible CAM functionality. We ended up having to purchase a 3rd party addon module to manage our CAM reconciliations. This is all on a self-hosted platform that was a one time purchase with an annual support contract. Yardi now offers SAS only models on a subscription based on of leases.
Voyager looks ok, but is incredibly expensive and refuses to offer a self-hosted option. Luckily, they are not the only one in the game these days, their primary competitor is MRI and they offer both a selfhosted and SAS model as well as most of the same functionality as Yardi.
When we do decide to jump into the large annual subscription fees, we will probably go MRI after having several meetings with both companies to review how their software can benefit us It depends which platform you are talking about. I started using Yardi when it was still a DOS program!
At that time, I quite liked it Then all of a sudden they started moving in 2 directions We opted to start with Genesis and figured we could move "up" later. We have been using Yardi Genesis the server-based version for 5 years now and simply love it. We are always learning a bit more about it, but the main thing is that it is FAST! It's relatively intuitive, and I was able to move up to this system from Yardi DOS without any real training When I started doing some work for another company a few months ago, they told me that they were forced to move to Genesis II online because they could no longer purchase the server-based Genesis.
I figured "cool", now I could learn that system and compare to see if it was worth upgrading for the other company that I'm working for. Well, that's the end of the good news. It took only an hour playing with the Genesis II system to realize that it bore NO relationship to either of the other Yardi programs that I had used, and our Yardi tech confirmed that it was a platform purchased from another company.
