How long has tomorrowland been around

In fact, this is what many visitors get to experience! Debby goes on to say that the festival really feels like a family production, and one must admit that as a visitor of many festivals, the staff at Tomorrowland have been the most professional, helpful and eager to help anyone.
Even the intern, Tom Blommers, went out of his way to walk over 10 minutes in the pouring rain without an umbrella to give our car the parking pass, and was constantly available to provide information and assistance even after festival hours to make our experience sublime.
The majestic production of every stage and the detailed-oriented approach to everything even the garbage bins were custom made , health and safety, information and logistics were done to the T. Logistically, Tomorrowland is a well-honed machine that leaves nothing to chance and you can feel it. For many travelling from outside of Europe, the festival already begins at home, from the moment of securing the ticket many have tried several years to buy without success , to the parties at departure gates of several international airports and even onboard of aeroplanes where parties take place with Tomorrowland playlists, that blast the speakers system.
And once there, many festival-goers decide to accommodate in the Dreamville, a gigantic space of over 45 hectares which is basically a city of 38, residents where guests can stay in Tomorrowland branded tents, huts or even luxury cabins with their own private toilets, jacuzzis and all the luxuries one might need. Dreamville also had its own supermarket, swimming pool area, tattoo parlour, relax rooms, bakeries, morning sports and workout sessions and even a tent where people can get married and they did!
Nervo, the twin sister DJ act from Australia, who have played in Tomorrowland several times before, have usually been provided main stage time. His main stage set, one of the most energetic and creative during the entire festival, was a mixture of live musicians and his fantastic beats, which grabbed the imagination of the party people, even during the pouring rain. The outpouring of love and compassion we kept hearing about from so many, prior and during the festival, seemed to ring true as we toured the festival and soaked in the atmosphere, which felt completely genuine.
The stage was designed to reflect that year's Masker Mask theme, but there's something undeniably sinister about a maniacal laugh on a giant face with an octopus-like moustache and bright red lipstick.
Especially when you zoom in real close. The fact that it was essentially eating each of the DJs doesn't help at all. Luckily, brought peace and love back in a big way.
The kind, smiling Zon Sun beamed out from under a rainbow frame, while waterlily towers why not? The face evolved again in , as The Tree of Life sunk its roots and watched over an enchanted forest of lollipops and mushrooms. The Book of Wisdom finally dispensed with the flat canvass altogether, completely rewriting the script on how to build festival stages.
Countless others have since copied this idea, but as the festival narrator told tales of DJs from all over the world in , the crowd below had never seen anything on this scale before. The Arising of Life placed artists at the foot of a flaming volcano, in an almost prehistoric scene. And life also arose in the USA a year later, with the stage and theme appearing at TomorrowWorld The Key to Happiness is another of Tomorrowland's most iconic symbols, as the benign face reclaimed the focal point of the main stage.
Just like the design, the stage made it to Chattahoochie Hills for TomorrowWorld , and then to Brazil in , for the second and so far, final year of Tomorrowland's South American edition.
Tomorrowland is more than just a music festival. It is an adult playground with an entire theatrical production. It is well known for its incredible lineup, mind-blowing sets, over the top magical scenery and the incredible firework and laser shows. Getting a ticket is obviously the most important part of it all. Your tickets are wristbands that become your electronic wallet for the entirety of the festival.
The festival is cashless and everything is charged for via your wristband. Prior to the festival, you load your money onto it and anything not spent will be returned. In a nutshell, the 3 day passes sell out almost instantly and you are considered extremely lucky if you can snatch up one of them on the date of sale.
This package is an organised package that includes everything you need! Although the package is a little more expensive, it is by far the most stress-free way to attend Tomorrowland.
Note: In order to be eligible for Tomorrowland ticket sales not including Global Journey you must complete a pre-registration generally opening in February. This gives you a unique access code in order to enter the online ticket store when the sale opens.
People were coming from all over, already introducing themselves to one another. There were seat covers on the seats, Tomorrowland newspapers in the back pockets and the staff were just as excited as the passengers. The captain made an announcement regarding the festival and proceeded to tell us that directly after takeoff, we will dim the lights, close the blinds, turn up the music, pass out glow sticks, hand out the beers it is only am!
Every year, Brussel Airways have flights from all over the world bringing people together in Belgium. Every one of them with a party in the sky. Ummm awesome! We took a walking tour throughout the city, but we both knew we were only in Brussels for one thing…. This pre-party gave us a small taste of what was to come for the following 3 days. We jumped on board the bus from Grand Place and headed out to Boom for the one-hour journey. Strangely enough, even with such a range of nationalities surrounding us, our entire bus was filled with Australians proudly carrying Aussie flags.
Travelling brings together nationalities from all over the world but you know, without fail, that meeting up with fellow Aussies, there is bound to be some seriously loud singing and an awful lot of Aussie slang being thrown around. Day ticket holders or 3-day ticket holders do not get access. Not even the pre-party prepared us for what the next 3 days entailed. The gathering at Dreamville was large enough, but stepping into the festival grounds of Tomorrowland was something else.
During the 3 days, the site in Boom was vibrant with life and was filled with a magic that you can only feel by being there. More than DJs take the stages and the choices of who to see, are endless.
By downloading the app, we were able to set ourselves a rough plan of who we wanted to see and when. Our days started with a buffet breakfast, a sensible move to line our stomachs! People gathered in our hotel lobby and every morning at am we jumped on board the shuttles. The bus drivers set the mood with an upbeat playlist and by pm we were onto our first drink of the day. No matter the lack of sleep, or how badly our bodies wanted to take a break, we still woke up just as excited as we did the last.
Sign of a good festival? Ah, Si! I guess we know where some of our money went! Walking the festival grounds, it felt as though you were walking through a fairytale.
Each stage had something unique about it, some were smaller than others, some were on podiums in the water, some inside, but one thing they did have in common were the over the top decorations and exquisite detail. Everything from fire-breathing dragons to hot air balloons, to giant lily pads and even as far as engraved floorboards. Flags from all over filled the dance floor, there were smiles from ear to ear on every single person, the costumes were at large and the backdrop of the stage was a moving story.
Can we just talk for a second about how clean the bathrooms were at this festival? Public bathrooms. Every single time we found ourselves here which I must admit was quite a few , they were always cleaned just moments before.
The smallest of things that can truly make a difference to a venue. Nobody likes to wait in line for the toilet, nor step into a toilet that makes you turn right back out the door. After meeting fellow Aussies at The Gathering, it soon became clear we would be seeing these guys a whole lot more.
Every day we would gather on the hill at the main stage in the same spot and no matter how many times you left and came back, someone would always be there. Each of their sets had a firework display to coincide with the song they were playing and Jacob and I found ourselves dancing around like lunatics more than we ever have egged on by the hundreds of thousands around us.
It was absolutely unbelievable and really, nothing we had ever seen before. For most of the sets, we held back from the centre of the crowds. I think our ears were still ringing 2 weeks after leaving those speakers, but it was so unbelievably worth it. Second, to the music, our favourite part of the weekend was having a dance with an year-old seasoned festival goer! This man has been coming to music festivals for years and swears to return every year he possibly can.
He was so into it and the nicest old man ever. Who says age can stop you from attending such events?! It was definitely the icing on the cake and it was such a fantastic way to end the 4 days, all whilst saying goodbye to our newly made friends. Do you plan to head to Tomorrowland? Have any questions? Until then, watch the Tomorrowland Offical Aftermovie!
It was one of the biggest highlights of our month trip so far and we would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Sometimes high expectations can ruin experiences but Tomorrowland exceeded ours from the moment we stepped onto the plane!
Thank you to Tomorrowland for some of these photos. The pre-registration is just for the tickets, not the Global Journey. The Global Journey will come out before the normal tickets. We strongly advise going for this option as everything is organised for you and it is a fantastic way to experience the whole journey!
Let us know if you have any other questions!
